Although this blog is primarily written for those considering medical tourism in Türkiye, this section is applicable everywhere for aesthetic surgery decisions. Whether the procedure takes place in Türkiye, your home country, or somewhere else entirely, the following questions are still important.
Pause here before you enter your card details. Go through the questions below slowly and answer them honestly. If you catch yourself saying “I don’t know” or “I’m not sure,” that’s a sign you’re not ready to move money yet.

Ask yourself:
- What’s the real reason I’m not doing this in my home country? Is it only price, or is something else driving this?
- Is the money I’d save actually worth the extra travel and complication risk, or am I chasing the “I scored a deal” feeling?
- In the worst case (unexpected complication, possible revision, swelling that drags on), can I handle it financially and mentally?
- When I get home, if I need help, do I have a local doctor I can realistically see, or am I gambling on the “no one wants to touch it” problem?
- Can I truly make room for both surgery and recovery with work, school, or family obligations?
- Do I feel pushed or rushed by a clinic, a coordinator, or an influencer?
- If I log off social media for a few days and revisit this with a clear head, does it still make sense?
Mini rule:
If 3 or more questions make you think “I haven’t really considered that,” keep reading, but don’t pay anything yet.
Talking these through out loud with a partner or a friend usually makes the decision sharper.
At this point, it’s not just a matter of cost or opportunity. The decision to have cosmetic surgery, especially in another country, shouldn’t be made based on a few nice photos or a quick-responding coordinator. How you will manage the details that may arise after the surgery is absolutely an integral part of this decision, as well as the surgery itself.
Sometimes people make this decision not because they truly want to, but because they want to quickly get rid of something that has been bothering them for a long time. Other times, price, campaigns, social media influence, or the results of others outweigh their own decision. Therefore, before sending money, you need to openly ask yourself what you are truly choosing and what you are risking.
